Captain is a beautiful dog who was recently rescued from the streets but now has a chance at a forever, loving home. The shelter staff gave Captain toys, treats, and a new bed to sleep on. Amazing, right?!
There’s just one thing — Captain didn’t seem to be interested in his new comfy bed at all. He could really care less about it.
“All he wants at bedtime is a cardboard box,” Kristina Millman-Rinaldi, founder of Detroit Dog Rescue, wrote on Facebook. “This cardboard box, or whatever size box we have at the time, is the only way he’ll sleep because it’s the only way he’s ever slept to feel safe.”
Even though Millman-Rinaldi doesn’t know much about Captain’s past, she’s making the assumption of Captain’s preference due to the amount of time that he spent wandering the streets.
What Millman-Rinaldi does know for sure, is that he was found on the tough streets of Detroit while looking for food. Captain was hungry, he was sick, and strangely — he was wearing a collar, but no tags.
